Pendergast Endowment Fund

The Pendergast Foundation is funded, in part, by an endowment. The endowment includes thousands of philanthropic gifts. These gifts form a permanent source of funding that connects our teachers, students, community, and volunteers from many diverse backgrounds, now and into the future.  

The Pendergast Foundation endowment is a dedicated and permanent source of funding that maintains the philanthropic mission of the foundation. The endowment returns enable the mission of education, health, and professional growth for students and teachers. 

Each year, a portion of the endowment is paid out as an annual distribution to support the budget of the Foundation, while any appreciation in excess of this annual distribution is retained in the endowment so it can grow and support future generations. As a result, the endowment can provide the foundation with financial footing for generations to come.

Endowments are structured to exist in perpetuity, meaning that we are able to rely on the endowment’s earnings forever.

What are our goals for the fund?

The primary goal of the Pendergast Foundation Endowment Fund is creating long-term organization sustainability. Over the next 10 years, out goal is to raise 1 million for the fund. This amount is the threshold where the income generated would provide approximately 50-80% of our operating cost a years sustainably.

Where is the fund held, and how is it invested?

We have partnered with the Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) as the home for our Endowment Fund. ACF’s mission is to “lead, serve, and collaborate to mobilize enduring philanthropy for a better Arizona,” and they manage over 1.4 billion in assets. Needless to say, we are in good company.
